Sport Club Mobile App
Designing a mobile communication app for clubs, teams, parents, players and administrators.
Project overview
A mobile app for club communication across iOS and Android, integrated with the Friendly Manager platform — adopted by 100 clubs within 48 hours of launch.
The problem
Clubs struggled to reach members, parents and players quickly. Email and scattered channels weren't cutting through, and administrators needed a direct, reliable way to communicate.
My role
I led product design alongside one subject matter expert — designing everything in Figma, building interactive prototypes, working with customers for feedback, handing off to the development team, and supporting testing and QA.
Users and context
Club administrators, team managers, parents and players across iOS and Android. Admins need to send updates and manage communication; members need timely, relevant information on their phones.
Constraints
Two platforms (iOS and Android); integration with the existing Friendly Manager platform; a lean team (one designer plus one SME); and the need to be intuitive for a very broad, non-technical audience.
Process
I worked with the SME and customers to understand real communication needs, designed the app in Figma, built interactive prototypes, tested with customers, refined, then handed off to development and supported QA through launch.
Key design decisions
- A communication-first information architecture aimed at fast, clear updates.
- A consistent experience across iOS and Android.
- Tight integration with Friendly Manager so club data drives the app.
- Simple flows designed for parents and players, not just admins.
Outcome
Helped launch a mobile app adopted by 100 clubs within 48 hours — a direct communication channel between clubs and their members.
What I'd improve next
Richer notification controls and segmentation, and deeper self-service for team managers.
